The three principal means of enhancing contrast without using staining will be explained and demonstrated.  Dark-ground illumination will be covered by Stephen Parker, Rheinberg illumination by Carel Sartory, phase contrast by Chris Thomas and differential interference contrast by Phil Greaves.

The venue has only a few power points, so extension leads should be brought if you need power. If equipment has not been PAT tested, it can be done on the day, free of charge. Tea and coffee are available. A public house across the road does food. Non-members are welcome.

An open session for members of QMC and the Society to set up displays (from 9.30am) and demonstrations.  Gossip with colleagues and visitors to the museum which will be open (10am-2pm).  Tea and coffee available.  Local pub and Co-op nearby.

Quekett members will be in the Information Centre (SW19 5NR) on Wimbledon Common on Sunday 19th providing microscopes for viewing the specimens found on the Common, as part of our outreach programme. There is a free/donation car park and the Windmill Tearooms near the Centre. Short walk from the 93 bus route (alight at Parkside Hospital). Visitors are welcome.

Visit to the interesting and varied nature reserve, off Warnham Road, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 2RA.
