Quekex24 – The Annual Exhibition of Microscopy

Quekex, the Club’s annual exhibition, will take place on Saturday 19th October 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Elm Court Youth and Community Centre, 363 Mutton Lane, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, EN6 3BP.

In line with tradition we will offer a physical event including exhibits, awards, and the chance to gossip and catch up with other members.

Links to more information, entry forms, conditions for the Main Exhibition and for the four Awards sections will be found below.

The committee would like to thank members in advance for helping to uphold the traditions of the Club.

Main Exhibition

This year entries are welcome on any microscopical subject, entomology, diatoms, plant sections or equipment; whatever interests you, this is your chance to tell others about it.

We would particularly be interested to hear from any members who would like to contribute to a display of instruments by Leitz.

The Eric Marson Award for Slide Preparation

Plant sections, insects, forams or rocks; whatever your area of interest, if you are able to mount your own slides this is your opportunity to show and inspire others.

The Barnard Photomicrographic Award (Still Images)

For many members, taking photographs through the microscope is a passion. Many of the images that are submitted for the Barnard Award go on to be used in our outreach events to show the next generation of microscopists what can be achieved. As with last year you have the opportunity to enter under an artistic or technical category.

The Barnard Photomicrographic Award (Videos)

Perhaps you prefer the challenge of a moving specimen? If so, our video category could be the perfect opportunity to show us how to capture those images.

The Quekett Award for Micrographic Art

If your microscopy, or even that of others inspires you in different ways the Quekett Art Award is for you. Any medium can be used paper, paint, digital skills, washing up liquid bottles, sticky back plastic, the world is your oyster. As long at it is inspired by microscopy your entry is welcome.
