Quekex25 – The Annual Exhibition of Microscopy
Quekex25, the Club’s annual exhibition, will take place on Saturday 11th October 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at our usual venue, the Elm Court Youth and Community Centre, 363 Mutton Lane, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, EN6 3BP.
This year we celebrate 400 years since the use of the word ‘microscope’ and 160 years since the Quekett Microscopical Club came into being. We very much hope that you will help us celebrate this big birthday and join us for Quekex25, our Annual Exhibition of Microscopy.
In line with tradition we will offer a physical event including exhibits, awards, and the chance to gossip and catch up with other members. As well as lectures and displays you can also submit entries to the Main Exhibition, the Barnard Photomicrographic Award (still images and videos), the Eric Marson Slide Preparation Award and the Quekett Micrographic Art Award.
Links to more information, entry forms, conditions for the Main Exhibition and for the four Awards sections will be found below.
The committee would like to thank members in advance for helping to uphold the traditions of the Club.
Main Exhibition
This year entries are welcome on any microscopical subject, entomology, diatoms, plant sections or equipment; whatever interests you, this is your chance to tell others about it.
As always we would invite members and friends of the Club to put on a display. We would particularly welcome demonstrations or interactive displays or those that resonate with this years theme ‘I made it or I modified it’.

The Eric Marson Award for Slide Preparation
Plant sections, insects, forams or rocks; whatever your area of interest, if you are able to mount your own slides this is your opportunity to show and inspire others.

The Barnard Photomicrographic Award (Still Images)
For many members, taking photographs through the microscope is a passion. Many of the images that are submitted for the Barnard Award go on to be used in our outreach events to show the next generation of microscopists what can be achieved. As with last year you have the opportunity to enter under an artistic or technical category.

The Barnard Photomicrographic Award (Videos)
Perhaps you prefer the challenge of a moving specimen? If so, our video category could be the perfect opportunity to show us how to capture those images.

The Quekett Award for Micrographic Art
